The agenda includes time for networking to help identify partners and opportunities. Lunch will be provided, offering excellent opportunities for further networking with the presenters and delegates.

The hydrogen workshop will provide an overview of local hydrogen activity and opportunities, with expert speakers panel discussions on the current state of development of the hydrogen economy. It will also cover steps being taken to stimulate the supply of skills and technologies to produce and utilise hydrogen. It is estimated that up to 300,000 new jobs could be created across Scotland’s hydrogen sector by 2045, and the European hydrogen import market is predicted to be worth €20 billion by 2030.

Dr Martin Valenti, SOSE’s Director of Net Zero, said: Net Zero is one of the biggest economic opportunities of our time, and within that the expected growth of the hydrogen sector is one of the most significant. Hydrogen is particularly relevant for the South of Scotland. While our region’s contribution to Scotland’s renewable energy approaching 20%, the real growth is forecast to be in production of hydrogen using entirely renewable electricity sources. This is therefore a fantastic time for us to host the first hydrogen brokerage and workshop in the South of Scotland, alongside the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association.”

The brokerage session will bring together potential hydrogen producers and users to match up supply and demand in the local area. It will showcase local players looking to produce green hydrogen along with examples of local companies representing the demand side for hydrogen solutions, and offer delegates the chance to network together and develop hydrogen opportunities across the South of Scotland.
