Moving Ahead with Hydrogen

  • Science Museum - Illuminate Exhibition Road London SW7 2DD United Kingdom (map)

Join the H2FC Supergen Hub at the Science Museum, South Kensington, London for Moving Ah2ead with Hydrogen. This is the last ever H2FC Supergen annual assembly before handing the hydrogen energy baton over to two new £25m successor programmes – UK HyRES and UK HiACT. The Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen programme of speakers is cross-sector and solutions focussed, aimed at sharing perspectives, overcoming barriers and Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen. This event is for anyone involved in developing the UK’s future Hydrogen economy, whether you have a background in policy, investment, research, start-up, spin-out or industry.

The case for Hydrogen as a fundamental energy carrier of the future ramped up in 2022. For it to become a major energy solution we still need to solve challenges and overcome problems – across every aspect of engineering technology, infrastructure, economics and society.

In this last ever Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Supergen Hub annual assembly will bring together leading lights and rising stars for a fully cross-sector focus on Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen:

  • Reflect on a decade of Hydrogen research and development by the institutions involved in the H2FC Supergen Hub.

  • Meet the next generation of hydrogen problem-solving scientific talent.

  • Examine the remaining barriers holding hydrogen back from becoming part of the UK’s mainstream energy infrastructure.

  • Debate what we need to do to overcome those barriers and to get hydrogen up and running at scale, and how we join the dots between all sectors: technology, engineering, environment, finance, policy and regulation.

The programme of speakers is cross-sector and solutions focussed, with four sessions aimed at sharing perspectives, overcoming barriers and Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen:

Session 1 - Hydrogen's Direction of Travel. Welcome address by Professor Nigel Brandon, Director, H2FC Supergen Hub. Government direction for hydrogen as a part of the UK's Net Zero strategy, and reflections on a decade of H2 research - senior researchers from across the H2FC Supergen Hub's institutions reflect on their achievements.

Session 2 - The Rising Stars of Hydrogen. Four rising stars from across the spectrum of hydrogen development - academia, spin-out, infrastructure and policy - present their perspective, followed by an audience Q & A.

Session 3 - The New Hydrogen Hubs. An introduction to the two new EPSRC funded hydrogen hubs, UK HyRES and UK HiACT that will pick up the baton from te H2FC Supergen Hub, and how they can benefit all sectors in Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen

Session 4 - Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen - stakeholder perspectives. A panel of experts, representing industry & infrastructure, policy, academia and investment will share and discuss their stakeholder perspective.

Moving AH2ead with Hydrogen is for anyone involved in developing the UK’s future Hydrogen economy – whether you’ve a background in policy, investment, research, start-up, spin-out or industry.
