European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is a month-long series of activities held during June to build a secure energy future for Europe. It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power. Launched in 2006 by the European Commission, the EUSEW is organised by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) in close cooperation with Directorate-General for Energy.
You can take part in Sustainable Energy Week by:
- Creating or attending an Energy Day
- Competing for the Sustainable Energy Awards
- Presenting at or attending the Networking Village
- Organising a session or presentation at the Policy Conference.
Where you fit in… Everyone brings something different to the EUSEW. It is an ideal platform for sharing ideas and knowhow, and for forging alliances to bring about an Energy Union based on energy efficiency, decarbonising the economy, together with research, innovation and competitiveness.
The high point of EUSEW is the annual Policy Conference featuring leading figures and a diverse programme of sessions and side-events aimed at discussing and shaping Europe’s energy future. The Policy Conference is the most important European conference dedicated to sustainable energy policy issues. Sessions organised by the European Commission and energy stakeholders debate new policy developments, best practices and sustainable energy ideas, while networking events forge alliances. Awards for outstanding projects begin the week.
Energy Days take place throughout the month of June. Organised by local public and private organisations, Energy Days are activities and events that raise awareness of energy efficiency and renewables. Any activity can be an Energy Day – from a workshop, to a competition, to a tour of a power station – all engage citizens and energy stakeholders in building the Energy Union.
Together, we can spread awareness of how to use energy more sustainably, build a low-carbon economy based on renewables and have a strong, united approach to sustainable energy use.
