Hydrogen Scotland - Realising the Potential Conference

Our 15th annual SHFCA conference in Aberdeen on 25-26 October 2023 brings together SHFCA members and guests with invited expert speakers to celebrate the growing hydrogen economy across Scotland.

The SHFCA2023 Hydrogen Scotland – Realising the Potential conference and exhibition takes place at the prestigious P&J Live venue in Aberdeen on Thursday 26 October. Pre-conference activities begin on Wednesday 25 October with an optional programme of visits in Aberdeen, followed by the Wednesday evening networking reception and awards ceremony in central Aberdeen. All SHFCA2023 tickets include the Thursday conference & exhibition, and the Wednesday pre-conference visits, networking dinner and awards:

  • The Aberdeen Hydrogen Showcase at the OGV Taproom (Wed, 25 October from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m): The Aberdeen Hydrogen Showcase will share current and planned activities for local hydrogen deployment and supply chain development with examples from Aberdeen and the region.

  • Civic Reception, Award Ceremony and Networking Dinner at the Aberdeen Art Gallery (Wed, 25th October from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m): The evening begins with a civic reception opened by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, followed by an awards presentation and a networking buffet dinner. This is a superb opportunity to catch up with colleagues and make new connections before the conference on Thursday.

  • The Annual Conference and Exhibition at P&J Live (Thu, 26th October from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m): Our annual conference and exhibition themed Hydrogen Scotland – Realising the Potential, will explore the scale-up of low carbon hydrogen production, as well as building local demand and the opportunity for hydrogen export into wider markets.

    The opening keynote will be delivered by Gillian Martin MSP, the Scottish Minister for Energy & Environment, and the plenary session on Partnerships for Growth followed by three sessions with complimentary themes of Enablers for Growth; Scaling up Hydrogen and Building the Future.

Aberdeen is now moving from demonstration projects to larger scale and wider deployment, supported by local initiatives including the Energy Transition Zone adjacent to the new South Harbour and the strategic Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub partnership between bp and Aberdeen City Council. SHFCA2023 will highlight the critical importance of establishing local supply chains and skills with hydrogen as a key part of this clean energy transition.
