  • GRID @ Heriot Watt University Riccarton Edinburgh EH14 4AS United Kingdom (map)

Heriot Watt University is establishing the iNetz+ Global Research Institute on Net Zero to pioneer groundbreaking solutions for a carbon-neutral future, with the hydrogen economy as one of the main iNetz+ themes. This free to attend workshop event brings together government and business with academics to workshop the challenges for industry and the wider deployment of hydrogen solutions.

This iNetz+ event will be opened by Professor Gillian Murray, Vice Principal for Business and Enterprise at Heriot Watt University. Professor Peter Cummings and Professor Raffaella Ocone will then introduce iNetz+ and its Hydrogen focus, outlining areas where academia can help overcome hurdles and support the acceleration of the hydrogen economy.

The policy perspective will be introduced by Stuart McKay, Head of Hydrogen Policy at Scottish Government, who will speak about the importance of Hydrogen to the Scottish economy. Nigel Holmes of SHFCA will give a perspective on the challenges of scaling up hydrogen, and David Hogg of Arup will review the ups and downs on the hydrogen journey so far, and the road ahead.

Attendees will then have the opportunity to take part in a discussion about Making it Happen and the challenges of deployment of hydrogen for decarbonising the wider economy. Participants will then have the opportunity in the two afternoon breakout workshops exploring themes of Moving it, Storing it, Using it, and Making it Acceptable in more detail.
