MTU Onsite Energy

MTU CFC Solutions GmbH is a joint venture of MTU Friedrichshafen, a DaimlerChrysler AG company, and RWE Fuel Cells GmbH that develops and manufactures stationary fuel cells for generating power and heat.

Together with the American partner company Fuel Cell Energy (FCE), MTU CFC has altogether installed 35 plants (HotModules). The high temperature fuel cells typically generate 245 kilowatt electricity and 180 kilowatt heat (combined power and heat). Their high electric efficiency of almost 50 per cent outstrips traditional technologies and the almost soundless operation is especially popular with inner city applications.

On over 7.400 square metres, 85 members of staff push development and manufacturing. With over 180.000 hours of operation, the plants have proved to be ready for the market.
