
With 100 members AREG is an innovative private-public partnership set up to help identify and promote new energy opportunities in North East Scotland. Between them, members are actively involved in every type of renewable energy resource. AREG members include energy businesses, research institutions, oil service companies, professional consultants and economic development agencies. AREG currently has three flagship renewable energy projects under development :- a joint investigation with AMEC, the international project management and services group, into the feasibility of developing an Offshore Windfarm off the coast of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire; Developing a bold, state-of-the-art Energy Futures Centre in Aberdeen?s beach area to house some of the city's key players in renewable energy development; Establishing a new Renewables Research Centre and a Professorship in Energy Futures, supported by the University of Aberdeen, The Robert Gordon University and Aberdeen City Council. These projects, and other AREG activities, are supported by Aberdeen's City Growth Fund, which is administered by Aberdeen City Council.
