A fuel cell without fuel is not very useful! As many fuels required to operate fuel cells are not widely available, this represents a barrier to the successful introduction of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies into society. These barriers need to be overcome if fuel cell technologies are to be accepted by consumers. As a result the infrastructure needed to produce, distribute, store and supply hydrogen to end users needs to happen concurrently with the introduction of these technologies. Further to this, operational infrastructure such as a hydrogen refuelling station has the potential to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technologies in the surrounding area.
Other infrastructure matters such as grid connection and recycling are also important considerations. |
